How a score becomes a level

For every test, age and gender the norms list six cut-off values. The tool checks them in order from L1 upwards and stops at the first match:

PDF rule vs Office rule

In some rows the official PDF prints a level as “from X to X”. Under the usual reading no score can land on that level. Schools handle this in two ways, so the tool lets you choose:

Example from the norms: a boy aged 9 scoring 13 in Partial Curl-up is L1 Work Harder under the PDF rule and L2 Must Improve under the office rule.

The rule you choose is printed on every result, report card and Excel export.

When a level is N/A

For the 600 m Run/Walk at ages 14–18 the printed benchmarks are not usable: the times are unrealistic and levels overlap. Rather than guess, the tool shows N/A with a short note. Other tests are still scored normally.

Total points, strongest and weakest area

Total points is the sum of the points for every test that has a level, so each test can add up to 10 points. The strongest area is the test with the highest level and the area that needs most work is the test with the lowest. Ties list every tied test. BMI is a separate category and does not add points.

Frequently asked questions

What does L1 to L7 mean in the Fit India test?

Each test score is placed on one of seven levels, from L1 “Work Harder” to L7 “Sports Fit”. The cut-offs depend on the test, the student’s age and gender.

How many points is each level worth?

L1 = 2, L2 = 4, L3 = 6, L4 = 7, L5 = 8, L6 = 9, L7 = 10 points.

Is BMI given a level?

No. BMI is reported as a category (Underweight, Normal, Overweight or Obese) and does not add points.
